‘Offer insufficient’ – Manchester United making signing efforts, updates on 3 players

Despite ties to numerous players at the Dutch club this summer, Manchester United is yet to make a signing from Ajax.

Erik ten Hag left the Amsterdam team for Old Trafford, and as was largely predicted, he has turned to his old team for reinforcements.

Updates on three players in whom the Red Devils are apparently interested can be found in Monday’s edition of De Telegraaf.

Lisandro Martinez is the most particular. It is stated that Manchester United has proposed a set price of €45 million plus an additional €5 million in bonus payments, and it is further stated that the “offer is insufficient”. The athlete reportedly “demands” that his team sit down and negotiate his departure since he wants to go on.

It is alleged that Ajax is now “thinking about” paying €60 million for Martinez, a sum that would include bonuses. Given that the same sources claimed the Dutch team sought €50m and that even that asking price was ambitious, it makes sense if the player feels frustrated by the situation.

Another Ajax player who has been closely associated with Manchester United is Antony. The Eredivisie team reportedly wants €80 million for the Brazilian and has not yet received a serious bid, according to De Telegraaf.

It has been stated that Brian Brobbey prefers to join Ajax above other clubs and that they are interested in signing him from RB Leipzig.

Brobbey’s position might shift if negotiations between Ajax and RB Leipzig take too long, according to De Telegraaf and reports linking Manchester United to the club.
